I teach a self-contained autism program for students in grades 3-5. I’m challenged this year with students who have not been in school for over a year, several of whom are non-verbal. These amazing kiddos require individualized instruction in foundational math and reading skills, along with social and communication skills. Some respond to tactile sensory items. I am seeking resources to meet them at their instructional levels; my current classroom materials are too difficult for most of my kiddos this year. Many of these materials will be used in reading and math centers, and the sensory items will be reinforcers for them on their earned breaks.
