In order to help my first graders with Phonological Awareness (RF.1.2), they must learn all their letter names and letter sounds. Using the Alphabet Sound Tubs will help my students learn their sounds while exploring hands on. Once students have a strong foundation for letter names and letter sounds, they can move to the next step of blending those sounds and reading words. Students need opportunities to explore with building as a foundation for engineering and design. Students will use the building materials to meet Next Generation Science Standard K-2-ETS-1-2. Materials were purchased in pairs so that students can learn to partner and share. My students will use their white boards as a way to show thinking and reasoning while solving addition and subtraction equations (1.OA.A.1, 1.OA.A.2, 1.OA.C.6).
