Our kids love safely observing & exploring different objects in the water/sensory table. Our old one has become irreparable. This table has not only been used for water exploration including funnels, boats, water wheels, etc. and science experiments such as sink and float, but the table has also held things such as a quartered pumpkin for exploration in the fall, and a block of ice and later snow for exploration of other states of water during winter. While the children explore in pairs or small groups they naturally engage in conversation to help them with increasing clarity, ease, and accuracy as well as expand vocabulary to describe experiences, observations, and ideas. Working with others also involves sharing, taking turns, and often leads to the practice of needing to solve problems. The tunnel is a fun way for our kiddos to utilize social and communication skills as they practice a variety of gross motor skills while outside. We often incorporate it into an obstacle course.
