I want to motivate my students to push themselves to grade-level reading by the end of the year. I want them to see themselves in the stories they read, and develop empathy by seeing other perspectives. Their early elementary years were spent stuck at home and now we have the chance to show them how many different kinds of stories exist. The chance to help them find what kinds of stories inspire them to read; and what kinds of stories can inspire them to create a future beyond their current understanding.
