Teaching at a Title I school means that many of the students we serve live below the poverty line and face many difficult challenges in their personal lives. The resources I've chosen will provide my students with a comfortable and rewarding environment to be successful throughout the school year. I want to provide flexible seating arrangements as well as various types of incentives to help keep my students motivated and comfortable while they complete their classwork.
My students are having a hard time adjusting to the structure of a traditional classroom setting. Flexible seating, such as the desk chair and rug, allow students to collaborate with one another with ease. Headphones help keep all students at the same pace and encourage them to pay attention and follow along because they can hear every word. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.4.1.C Speaking and Listening is very important in a classroom. It allows students to stay engaged in lessons and ask questions when needed. Providing the students with snacks allows them to quench their hunger and boost their focus. In addition to the improved learning benefits, fidget toys can also reduce anxiety and stress, enhance dexterity, improve coordination and fine motor skills and assist in the development of muscles of small hands. The 3 tier rolling cart makes school supplies such as pens, antibacterial wipes, pencils, and paper more accessible to students throughout the classroom. Classrooms need good lighting in order to facilitate learning. Classroom lighting influences students' circadian rhythms. I added light bars in order to help my students have a warm, learning ambiance. Water bottles will raise students' alertness and focus which leads to better academic results. Keeping the students hydrated is an easy solution that we should not pass up!
