Students will become more excited about what we are doing in class. The better the materials, the more enthusiasm they will have. Since I teach a resource room class, I do not have as many supplies as the general education teachers. Therefore, this will go a long way in helping me provide better things for my students. Additionally, I would like to build a classroom library with many high interest books for my struggling readers. By having such books in my classroom, it will motivate them to read more. This will further help them in their reading deficits. My goal for my students is to foster a love for reading. As this is their deficit area, it is a non-preferred subject for many. I will utilize these books I purchase to help motivate them to engage in the texts and develop a passion for reading. By achieving this goal in my classroom, it will help my students reach their IEP goals in reading. Students with special needs struggle even more than their typical peers, so anything I can do to help them and give them opportunities will be so appreciated by me and my students.
