The students in my class missed out on early learning opportunities due to COVID. As kindergarteners, they learn to print upper and lowercase letters standard L.K.1b. They could benefit from different types of pencils and grips, as well as whiteboards, and composition notebooks to help them learn to write and form letters correctly. During reading time, they learn to distinguish between similarly spelled words by identifying the sounds of the letters that differ from standard RF.K.3d. The word-building tiles will help support this standard as each child will have a set to manipulate the letters and work on phonics skills in a whole group setting and during differentiated learning station time. We also introduce many different genres of literature and try to incorporate hands-on STEM activities into our literacy block. The fairy tale STEM set will help my students work on standard RL.K.10 to actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding. All of these amazing supplies will help my students become superhero readers and writers who can master the standards, build confidence, and have fun while learning.
