These historical novels are class sets for us to read as a class at school. The stories in these books will help students understand day to day life in the ancient civilizations that we are studying. Historical novels help students see the world from new perspectives. These two novels pair well with our unit on Egypt and our unit on the Incan civilization. They will enable students to put themselves in the shoes of people who lived at that time and in those societies. These two novels will also help students to find common ground with people who lived in ancient societies. These stories will demonstrate to students that people across time and throughout all societies have the same needs and wants that they do.
