Enticing students who live in a digital world to develop a love of reading requires a classroom library with a large variety of subjects and genres. Many of my students only have access to book choice through my classroom and our school library. We use sticky notes on a daily basis to annotate our books as we read. Many of my students are not able to provide their own headphones from home for use with our online reading program, and thus spend their time leaning over their Chromebook, straining to hear in an active classroom. Headphones will help them concentrate and grow! Task cards will help them target and practice important skills to build their reading comprehension, while working with partners and developing social skills at the same time.
