We will be doing novel studies over different genres and presentations. We will be looking at plot structures, character analysis, text structure, theme, reading responses and predictions. The students will make posters and create graphic organizers and outlines to share what they have learned with their classmates. Fourth grades seem to be overwhelmed by the word "Novel". I want them to feel comfortable reading something other than just graphic novels. It will also give them common reading experiences to compare other books they are reading with inside and outside the classroom.
