The students are focusing on building foundational skills in language and fluency to help them gain a greater comprehension of what they read. The games focus on specific language and fluency skills that allow them to take the skills we learn and apply them in a fun and meaningful way. Using science as a focus for skills will allow the students to take the practiced skills and show their comprehension and various skills in a specific content area. Having various modes of learning will increase not only their motivation but the connections they make with the concepts they are learning as well. There are many students in my class who are kinesthetic learners, so having these activities, manipulatives, and materials will allow me to provide an additional means of exposure to the skills and applications.
