Our classroom and our community had a devastating loss after Hurricane Ida passed through. Our classroom flooded and lost its roof so we lost everything. My students lost all of their supplies. They lost their comfortable and fun classroom. Although our roof has been replaced, our materials have not. We are working to rebuild our classroom and make it fun and functioning again. My students need carts at their tables to put their materials. They need books to read. They want some reading cushions to take to their favorite spot in the classroom to read. I am hoping to get our classroom back to a fun and safe first grade classroom where my students can come and feel at home.
