Children with special needs are often limited in the materials that they use. I would like to have them use what their regular peers are using. Trying to tone down the tools they're using is "babying" them and not helping them reach the goal of inclusion—for example, using regular pencils instead of primary pencils or regular scissors instead of easi-grip scissors. Having the opportunity to use age-appropriate materials and knowing how to use them is one goal for life skills. Making them get "used" to using these materials promotes independence. And that is what inclusion is.
