Using the science standard 3-5-ETS1-1, my students will design a solution to keep their egg safe if it were to be dropped from 10 feet in the air. I believe that this will help them see that school and science can be fun and exciting. Using the different resources that are found in the cart, my students will engineer a design that will protect their egg from a ten-foot drop. They will also learn about budgeting by being given a set amount of play money and using it to buy their supplies to keep their egg safe. They will have to get creative at different points, which allows them to engineer more than one design. My students will see that it is ok to fail; as long as you get back up and try again until you find the solution to what you are looking for. They will have designs that will not keep their eggs safe, and they will have designs that will create cracks in the shells. But they will also have a design that will keep their egg safe.
