In my class, we focus on social skills and accepting our emotions. We have a classroom reinforcement system. The encourages the students to focus on making positive choices regarding their challenges. I use grade-level content standards and student present levels of academic performance to guide our academic instruction. We follow IEPs and behavior plans to make sure we have academic and social and emotional growth. Our reinforcement system is based on individual student target behaviors and needs. The classroom is a safe and inviting environment for all students. Students are able to self-monitor their behaviors and challenges to set goals for themselves for self-worth and confidence.
