I had the privilege of learning about ceramics with the master, Kirk Mangus. I try to do his memory proud by teaching the excitement of clay, making something functional that can be used in everyday life , and walking the clay through the process of chemical changes to create a lifelong keepsake. Students are impowered to create, regain social skills and find out just what they are capable of making. The finished vessels are glazed and presented to the community in an Art show in the Spring. Educational and therapeutic, I was inspired by Mr. Mangus to instill a lifelong love of crafting ceramics in my students. Every single student is able to create something that is truly beautiful and have fun while learning doing it.
