Students will use these materials to be successful in the classroom. The students are learning how to be successful by being back in school full time. This involves learning how to manage a desk and basic skills such as organizing their materials. For instance, they will use the book buddy bags to read classroom materials and books that I’ve supplied to enhance their reading skills. This will allow them to be COVID safe and for me to clean between student use. Students will also be able to sharpen their pencils with a new pencil sharpener as the ones I currently have do not work as well from excessive use. Next, students will also have letter tiles to manipulate sounds to make words to enhance comprehension and fluency. To conclude, these will satisfy various NVACS standards such as: 2.RL.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories and poetry, in the grades 2–3 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range. 2.RF.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. 2.RF.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
