Upload a classroom photo
Students will work as a group to develop words and phrases that will uplift their peers and community. The words or phrases that the students choose will be used in a final artwork in the graffiti style using the spray paint and gloves funded. This project really helps students understand the power of words along with allowing students to build social relationships and awareness through a variety of activities and teamwork necessary to complete the final product. My favorite part of creating with true graffiti materials is that students feel empowered as a "REAL" artist with the ability to share their voice. The Nevada academic standards that are focused on in this project will be VA:Cr1.8.2 -Collaboratively shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present day life using a contemporary practice of art and design and VA:Cr2.8.3-Select, organize, and design images and words to make visually clear and compelling presentations.
