Full disclosure; my wife works for a well funded, suburban school district. Last year, during the height of the pandemic, her school purchased all new furniture that included flexible seating. In just a few short months since our attempted return to normalcy, she's been extolling the virtues of flexible seating at every opportunity. Intrigued, I began to research this myself. Students who are given choices in seating become more empowered and more engaged. Behavior and focus increase exponentially and their intrinsic motivation is positively affected. Discourse, collaboration, and classroom environment also increase when students are comfortable. Beanbag chairs will allow students to see the classroom from a different perspective. This is also a good way to break up the monotony of sitting at a desk for over six hours per day. The bouncy bands will allow students to redirect nervous energy subconsciously, increasing the time they are engaged with lessons.
