The school is home to about 600 students from grades 6-12. Students come from a low socioeconomic background and about 40% are ELL students who need visuals in order to help them to learn. The majority of the students are Latino, and there is a small minority of Asians, African-Americans, and Caucasians. They attend one of the most expensive schools built in California. The only thing missing is the technology. If the technology is present but broken, it often takes several months to half a year for it to be fixed due to the bureaucracy. The students have experienced a wide range of issues--bullying, racism, gangs, broken families, and poverty, yet they still choose to be in school. They are resilient and brave, but they need the tools to be successful in school.
