Right now, students are limited in most STEM classrooms to the materials available. What if students could design and engineer their OWN materials to find innovative ways of solving problems? This 3D printer could allow students unlimited possibilities in creating artifacts to develop their problem-solving skills as well as honing their design and engineering abilities at the same time.
Robotics, computer science, and engineering kits are great at offering students structured learning opportunities to explore specific features of each discipline, but lack the flexibility and adaptability to solve problems other than the pre-determined challenges in the curriculum. With the ability to design and create their own structures, students can work to solve much more diverse and unique issues. This 3D printer opens many new opportunities for students to innovate, create, and adapt to solve various problems that they may have not experienced before.
