RL9-10.3, RL9-10.5, RL9-10.6, RI9-10.7 These books will allow my students to open their minds and their thinking about what might interest them and the world around them. I like to provide opportunity to my students to step outside of their comfort zone and have new experiences. My students enjoy doing different activities like "What are you reading now" and "A book tasting" where they can go to different stations in the classroom and learn about new books either through another student who has read the book or through a quick sampling. After reading independently, my students come away with a new sense of learning and new connections made through literature. These connections are made through personal experiences, connections with society and even connections with other texts they may have read. After reading, they have the opportunity to showcase their learning through different avenues (writing, drawing, or even creating a spoken word or song). The most enjoyable part is watching them be open to the possibilities.
