I would love to utilize the Scholastic News magazine subscription for my class to help promote reading in a variety of ways. First, Scholastic News magazines will be used as a resource to help teach reading skills during whole group reading. Second, these magazines can be taken home so this project will engage parents and promote reading outside of school. And finally, these magazines align with Kansas’s Next Generation Science Standards and the Kansas 1st Grade Social Studies Standards, so I will be able to teach science and social studies standards through reading. These magazines will be used once a week during our whole group reading time.
