The past 18 months of pandemic learning has wreaked havoc on our young people. They have been asked to switch gears, adapt, and produce in more ways than any student before them. Since our school is focused on college preparation, our students are continuously pushed beyond their respective grade levels– even through a pandemic. They have proven they are capable and continue to impress me each day. My goal is to reward them with a physical outlet so they can nourish their bodies as much as their minds, especially with how neglected their bodies have been. Funding this project will allow me to hit each of my PE standards– it will aid them reaching proficiency in multiple movement forms, engage them in a variety of moderate to vigorous physical activities, and allow them to execute complex motor skills and various movement patterns. Each standard I teach touch upon the above mentioned skills, specifically PE 1.12.1, PE 1.12.3, PE3.12.1. Each day my students ask when I will get a strength and conditioning program underway, and this project will be our first step in cultivating a culture of physical well-being at our school.
