My classroom library is aging, and students ask me all the time for specific titles. I can't always afford to run out and buy these books. However, these books will provide enrichment and academic growth to my students through building on a love of books. Reading enhances academic performance across the board. Providing these books for my students will allow them to access high interest materials, not just textbooks. Students in middle school need to build their reading stamina. Having choices makes that much easier. The students want to read longer when they are engaged in the story.
