Life is better for all when students are actively engaged in their learning. Offering students diverse opportunities on how to learn is bonus. As we hook students' interest by reading a story about kids their own age who are experiencing life in unique and impactful ways, we also offer students diverse opportunities to learn about and create their own volcanic eruptions. Knowledge is power. The "I Survived Series" does a wonderful job highlighting factual information about realistic events, reflecting on potential frightening experiences, and helping students to understand historical devastation as well as the power of healing and restoration. Students always benefit from understanding the why, and these lesson experiences will provide just that.
