Today's rockets are remarkable collections of human ingenuity that have their roots in the science and technology of the past. They are natural outgrowths of literally thousands of years of experimentation and research on rockets and rocket propulsion. Students will be engaged in different types of hands-on experiments related to rockets. For example, learning about ascent from rocket balloons. Students will also learn to construct and launch film canister rockets incorporating chemical change and fractional concepts. In other activities, students will learn how different variables will affect the canister rockets and understand thrust, gravity, and identifying different variables. They will surely have a BLAST and FUN while learning, as well as a memorable experience that may help them choose a career in STEM.
