I'm excited to offer some new equipment and possibilities to my students. Our school's PE resources are pretty limited, and these new supplies will add more variety and quality to our classes. The soccer goals, balls, hula hoops, and other equipment will do more than encourage physical movement and play; it will help students learn how to be a good teammates, win and lose gracious communication skills, and promote healthy communication habits. I have personally seen how sports and team play can help shy children come out of their shells and interact with their classmates. I've witnessed the child who has difficulty focusing or holding still in class be more calm and attentive after opportunities for movement and play. I've seen how PE can help kids with confidence, connection with peers, and feel success. A soccer game, relay race, yoga poses, and jumping rope are much more than exercise. Yes, there are many physical benefits to movement, but there are also social, mental, and emotional benefits, all of which affect a student. I'm excited to use this generous donation to help give my students all the advantages possible through our schools' physical education program.
