Students want to create music and collaborate with each other. Through collaboration, advanced students will use the skills taught in class to write a song, record it and edit it (MU:Cr1.1 and MU:Pr4.1) in a recording studio environment. Once their recordings are complete, they will create artwork to give a visual of their song. Each class will create artwork representing their class that will displayed in the room to give them ownership of the classroom. The supplies will allow all students the opportunity to actively participate, keep themselves organized, collaborate with other students and create. Each beginning student will receive a 6 inch ruler to help them draw music staves as they learn how to read music and create. They will also receive kazoos so they may create music in a different way. Laminating pouches and paper will be used to make erasable music staves for student binders. Advanced students will use composition notebooks and binders to keep their project organized. The wood panels will be for their artwork. Batteries are used in the microphones. The additional supplies will be available to all students to use.
