A gaga pit would be a fantastic addition to our equipment inventory. Gaga (which can also be referred to by many other names) is essentially a safer, more engaging version of Dodgeball. Although there are many different variations, the basic rules of the game are that each player may hit the ball with their hands, while avoiding being hit by the ball on their legs. Although the premise sounds easy enough, the walls of the pit make for unpredictable bounces, resulting in an exciting and fast-paced game. Students would benefit from this equipment as it encourages each player to move constantly, and requires them to learn awareness and coordination. Younger students will focus on building strength in their upper body and cardiovascular endurance, while older students will use the gaga pit to grow their evasion and gross motor skills. Furthermore, playing the game will result in conversations about geometry as we examine the bounces of the ball against the pits' hexagonal walls.
