This whole writing and photography project is wholly based on the popular photography project "Humans of New York" by Brand Stanton. After analyzing copies of "Human of New York: Stories" in small groups, my students will compose their own portraits and biographical and symbolic stories for display on the bulletin boards right outside the classroom. Each of the portraits and stories will be printed and displayed in color, like in Stanton's book. To build a stronger learning community, my students need to see each others' faces and read each others' stories.
