To support them in the rigorous coursework, AVID students learn organizational and study skills, develop critical thinking, learn to ask probing questions, receive academic help from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities to make their college dreams reality. The materials requested will create an AVID binder which is the cornerstone of the AVID program. It will be the greatest organizational tool they will learn. The highlighters and notebooks will allow the students to house all their math work for the entire year. The AVID binder is essentially a student's whole school life enclosed in one safe place. The materials I have requested will become the key to my students being successful in the AVID class. AVID gives my students the skills and strategies to be successful in school, begin to take more rigorous courses, and successfully complete college eligibility requirements.
