This project will allow my students to explore the world of science and use materials to show and share their thought processes in planning, implementing, and concluding investigations. Students have not had the opportunity for much face-to-face communication during the COVID pandemic, and these activities will provide the opportunity for them to learn from and teach each other. By donating to this project, you will help provide the materials for my students to research, create, and share what they have learned. These supplies will also help me minimize material-sharing in order to help keep my students safe. These activities fulfill several Nevada Academic Content Standards. For example, during an investigation on animal adaptations, students will not only be developing content-area literacy, but they will also be developing informational reading skills, writing skills, and speaking and listening skills. Here are the standards those learning activities will develop: NGSS 4-LS1-1. Construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction RI.4.1 Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text. W4.9 Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research. SL4.4 Report on a topic or text, tell a story, or recount an experience in an organized manner, using appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes; speak clearly at an understandable pace. Students love science! Please help fuel their natural curiosity.
