Having a classroom for autistic students, you really have to think outside the box. Having sensory items like a hug pillow, fidget squishy, and calming music projector will help the students and their self-regulation so much! Hand puppets give the students the opportunity to express their behavior and their reactions independently. Having feeling games and cards will help them to relate to the things happening around them. Reading books in a play tent will allow them to have the space to calm down when upset. New rugs and bean bags offer a new calming space when they tire of the other items in the classroom.
