These items will be used to motivate students to work toward academic, behavioral, and social/emotional goals. Over the past 18 months, many of my students lost access to books, lost contact with teachers, and lost their motivation to learn. They returned to a brand new school building, where the library is not fully-functional yet, so many are still lacking access to high interest books. My project will provide high interest books in the classroom to help students master the NVACS standard of reading and comprehending a wide range of literary works with and without scaffolding. My project also includes items that will be used in the classroom to provide the necessary scaffolding for students as they build their reading. Lastly, my project funds incentives that will be used to help students become motivated to set and achieve goals in independent reading as well as in reading intervention programs including Achieve3000 and Reading Plus.
