In my class, we focus mainly on Speaking and Listening skills as we explore leadership and the 7 habits of happy kids. Because students have been isolated during the Covid pandemic, speaking and listening skills are lacking for many children. These skills are important throughout life. My students love to have discussions and share ideas about leadership. However, many of them have a hard time sitting still and focusing due to ADHD or other reasons. The stools I'm requesting will allow kids to swivel, tilt and wobble without tipping over. These stools would allow students to have an active learning environment that keeps their bodies and minds engaged.
Here are just a few of the standards I cover in my classroom:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.K.1.A
Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., listening to others and taking turns speaking about the topics and texts under discussion).
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.2.4
Tell a story or recount an experience with appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details, speaking audibly in coherent sentences.
