I will use these materials to provide real-life examples and with hands-on laboratory lessons. I will facilitate conversations on sustainability, community development, and healthy eating choices with these materials. The lights will be used to grow the seeds in vertically stacked treys as students study photosynthesis, water and energy conservation, and the scientific method. Teaching the scientific method, having materials to test hypothesis, and disseminating the knowledge of how to grow indoors in urban settings will give my students the strategies they need to develop workplace skills Indoor vertical farming uses 90% less water and 90% less fertilizer than traditional farming. These supplies will be used for indoor vertical farming in the classroom. Teaching necessary skills for our children to be sustainable will benefit human health and the Lake Mead water table in the long run.
