When the Aquaponic and Hydroponic systems are up and running in the classroom my students will be participating in the operation of an Ecosystem that is in perpetual and sustainable action right before their eyes. Hydroponics and Aquaponics are versatile tools that peak their interest, encourages involvement, and amplifies the teaching of not only a wide variety of science topics but also real world skills. The systems will take our science standards and push them into a new area of discovery. It will allow my students the opportunity to use renewable energy sources that have less impact on the environment than traditional farming that they are familiar with. The fish tanks and plants will also provide a tranquil soothing area for my students. This can help them focus and recenter themselves.
