The largest item I'm requesting is the "Inspiration Station" Cart. It will present charts and posters, but also support a mobile projector positioned so students can view demos and videos without having to turn around. The set of binders, the laminator pouches, and the wet erase markers will be used daily as an extra time center: I will create K-1, 2-3, 4-5 "Workbooks" filled with enrichment activities that will include vocabulary word searches, etc. They will be reusable and interchangeable depending on our current units. (VA.C.1: Describe works of art using appropriate vocabulary.) The Wikki Stix will also reinforce language by having students use, describe, and talk about how to "draw", reinforcing lines, shapes, and forms. Materials I have chosen will assist in VA.A.2b.1: Relating visual characteristics (e.g. color, line) to emotion in works of art. VA.P.1: Demonstrate planning for production. I have multiple white boards with broken handles, and replacing them will encourage their use as a standard part of our team "games". Having tables work together to come up with the question posed to the whole class kills two birds with one stone: They get to show what they know, learned, (VA.C.2: Analyze works of art.) or have questions about, while encouraging social skills and team building and vocabulary. It also "catches" up those who were absent and need a review of what was covered the class prior.
