The funding of this novel, Stamped, allows for the pairing of African American history learned through a knowledgeable teacher and college-level text with an easily consumable novel written for teens by Jason Reynolds, to digest the incredible work of Ibram X Kendi: Stamped from the Beginning. My students will appreciate the detailed history they are learning explained in their own voice with examples from the world we live in right now. Reynolds' telling advances Kendi's work and makes it relevant and accessible to students at all skill and motivation levels, allowing me to connect the content in the core curriculum and resources to the novel. My students will LOVE this book and discussing it together because it answers many of their most important questions.
