To meet the diverse needs of my students, my classroom will benefit from multi-sensory exploration in the form of toys and manipulatives. We get our wiggles out by exploring the 5 senses, especially through touch and sight. We learn about turn taking and waiting and increasing stamina through simple table-top tasks. Students expand on play skills with discovery toys and doll houses. We work on matching, sorting and labeling to increase vocabulary and pre-math requisites. Children in my class learn by 'doing' which means we are always using our senses to explore the classroom environment!
