Although most students at our school were given a chromebook at the start of the school year, approximately 2-3 students in each of my classes do not have access to a computer. Students were ineligible to receive a chromebook if they lost or damaged school property from previous years. Not being able to provide technology in a science class has made it impossible to achieve a fair and equitable classroom. Three class chromebooks will improve student learning through technology by adapting to individualized needs and creating an innovative learning space. This will ensure that all students have fair access to many of the engineering practices that we utilize through technology, such as designing models and running simulations.
