My students are 10th graders with average or below average reading skills. They much prefer texting with friends and listening to music. Engaging them in reading is not easy. Therefore, I look for interesting stories that they can relate to; stories that will make them think and wonder. These students live in a small beach town. Many have never traveled outside of the state. I want to take them on a journey around the world and spark their imaginations. I want them to read literature that will make a difference in their lives so that they will go on to make a difference in other's lives.
