My students struggle with transitions and with the lack of movement within their day - because they are high school students, they do not have PE every semester. My students are active kids who frequently ask me if they can move around the classroom and willingly take trips outside to make laps around the building. They spend most of their day sitting in desks that are uncomfortable and, for many of my students, too small. I believe that alternative seating will help me with my classroom management and will allow my students to better focus on the work we need to complete in our classroom rather than the discomfort of sitting still all day. My students deserve a space that is comfortable, peaceful and engaging for them - the floor lamps will help aide in that. Many of my students have sensitivities to the fluorescent lights that are used in the classroom and I have several who have light sensitivities who need a low light situation in order to best see.
