The laptop will be a huge resource for students not only for scientific discovery and designing, but for all subjects. This will be a community laptop that will be used for centers and group work. Students will be able to expand on their experiments by researching, using design programs to create 3D models, and animations. As a teacher, I try to engage my students by allowing student choice. A lot of students are very interested in coding and designing and I feel I am ill-equipped to provide them with the type of technology that would help engage and interest them in learning. The Chromebooks are only Google-based, and the Mac would allow students to play with outside resources and programs to enhance their computer skills and designing capabilities.
