Students with autism thrive in highly structured, and peaceful environments. Our classroom needs manipulatives for independent work centers and sensory tools to help these students learn independence and self regulating strategies. These students love to learn. Each student has strengths that we build on to help them reach their goals. Different seating options helps calm their senses, while manipulatives keep their attention on task. We are always working toward independence and self regulation to prepare them for middle school and life in the future. Even small items can make a big difference for these students in the long run.
