Since returning to in person learning after an extended time of learning from home, students have needed more support in managing their feelings. My social work office is a space for students to process their feelings and receive support for a variety of needs. I would like to create a calm corner in my office that would include a cozy rug, throw pillows, a reading pillow, and a diffuser with essential oils. This space would also offer students coping tools of mindful maze boards, stress relief ball set, sensory fidgets, and a sand timer. I would like to create a calm space in my office for my students to use in managing their feelings and improving their emotional health. My students come to school with a variety of stress and worries each day. I hope my students' social emotional growth will improve by creating a calm environment with stress reducing activities for them.
