Having graphic novels allows me to create a print-rich classroom where all students have access to grade level reading material. Many of my students are struggling readers and they are very engaged in graphic novels and it has increased their on task reading and engagement. Seeing their sense of accomplishment when finishing a book is delightful! Books that touch on social emotional learning allow us to engage in spirited discussions on kindness, diversity and inclusion. Finally, we are creating a class book to be published and all writing must be done in black ink when sent to the publisher.

About my class
