In order for science students to truly work through the Nevada Academic Content Standards for science, students need a comfortable environment in which they can: Ask & Questions and Define Problems, Develop & Use Models, Plan & Carry Out Investigations, Analyze & Interpret Data, Use Math & Computational Thinking, Construct Explanations & Design Solutions, Engage in Argument from Evidence, and Obtain, Evaluate & Communicate Information. Now that students are back in the classroom, I want to make sure that their work environment is a collaborative, engaging, comfortable space in which to do science. Fluorescent light covers will cut out some of the glare. Chalk and markers will be used to model students' scientific understanding. Charging stations & surge protectors will give a place to charge their technology & get their cell phones out of their hands so they truly engage in hands-on science. Hand held thermometers, stress balls, magnets, sharpies, balloons, period table, lava lamps, register tape, beads, play-doh, etc. are all supplies to be used to have students do hands on physical and Earth & Space science according to the NVACS.
