3D printing filament will allow my students to more effectively design and build tools to help them learn and showcase their knowledge in the classroom. The process of creating something from strings of plastic (filament) helps my students develop and strengthen essential STEM skills like design thinking, collaborative communication, and tenacity. The hum of our 3D printers can be heard throughout the day in my classroom which only matches the excitement my scholars have as they work to make their ideas a reality. We use the 3D printers to create learning aids (ex. cell models, historical building replicas) and components in student projects (ex. roller coaster cars for physical science, invention replicas for world history) to take student learning to the next level.
